Evidence of Influence of Yaniq Culture on Outskirts of Center of the Iranian Plateau Based on the Newly Discovered Areas of Farahan Plain, Markazi Province

Authors
Abstract
Farahan plain is a wide and flat plain with suitable lands for agriculture, which is located in the middle of Markazi province. This region is geographically important due to its proximity to the center of the Iranian plateau in the north and northeast on one hand, and to the Central Zagros in the west and southwest on the other. Archaeological studies conducted in this plain have led to the identification of sites from the Chalcolithic Age to the contemporary centuries, especially the settlements of Yaniq culture in the region. These settlements are located in the south of Farahan plain and along the southern shore of Lake Meighan in the center and south of Farahan plain, following the water flowing from Haftad Qala Mountains. The question that arose in this study was from which route or routes did the Yanighi communities enter the west and the center of Markazi province, and what factor or factors led to their presence in the region. It seems that Yanighi communities, passing through the mountains of the eastern margin of the Central Zagros, enter the province of Markazi province from two routes of Malayer city to the south or Famenin plain to the east and settle between the middle mountain valleys of the west of the province and the middle of Farahan plain. The presence of the Qarachay River in the west of Markazi Province, as well as the seasonal rivers that flowed in the Meighan Lake basin, can be one of the main reasons for their presence in the region.
