Abstract
One of the most important potteries of the Iron Age in northwestern Iran is a triangular vessel that was, first, obtained from Hasanlu Tape, and most scholars attribute its history to the Achaemenid period. Based on the archaeological studies of the Silveh Piranshahr dam catchment basin, a total of 39 ancient sites were identified. Sheikh Ismail Tape, Sarbaz, Grtdi Mashkan, Top Zava Tape, Chaqchagheh Castle, Chakchagheh area, and Silveh cemetery are among those sites that triangular vessels have been obtained from. These vessels are mainly painted and in terms of form include: jars, crocks, and shallow angled bowls, with simple line patterns, hanging triangles and intersecting brown and red crossbars. In terms of pattern, there are similarities between the pottery of Silveh Dam basin and other areas in the northwest, western Iran, and Anatolia region. Moreover, according to preliminary studies, the pottery belongs to the classical type and chronologically it belongs to the Iron Age III.
