Analytical study of Qapbazi in the first millennium BC based on archaeological data (case study: Gohar Tepe Behshahr Iron Age Cemetery)

Abstract
In the sheep's foot, there is a cube bone that has a low and high surface, and it is called the Qapak. In the past, there was a type of game or entertainment called Qap Bazi, which was done using sheep's scapular bone. Research on games, entertainment, and related tools is an essential issue of social archaeology. The fundamental problem of this research is to know the games and entertainment in the first millennium BC in Northern Iran, one of which was Qapbazi. He games and entertainment in the first millennium BC in Northern Iran, one of which was Qapbazi. The lack of studies on this topic requires studies in the games and entertainment in the prehistoric Ages of Iran. One of the essentials of this research is to know the rules and principles of Qapbazi and the tools for them. A piece of cubic bone in the foot of sheep and goats caused the formation of social and peer groups. This article uses descriptive-analytical methods and first-hand archaeological data in excavations and field investigations. The purpose of this research is the evolution of the Qap Bazi game in the first millennium BC in the plateau of Iran. The results show that in some of the Iron Age sites from the plateau of Iran, especially North and Northwest, several graves related to the children and teenagers, a lot of Qaps (cubic foot bones of sheep) have been found. The findings show that the general principles of the game only changed a little in the Iron Age until the Age after that, and the wearing of the bones proves this problem due to their heavy use.
